About the designer
I am a Fashion Designer based out of Atlanta, GA. I graduated from Savannah College of Arts and Design with a Fine Arts Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design. A childhood dream achieved. As a designer I believe Fashion should be wearable art. My work is constantly inspired by architecture, nature, technology. As in architecture I pay close attention to every angle of the garment to ensure a point of interest can be found when viewed from any direction. As in nature I seek organic shapes, play with symmetry and visual and tactile textures. As in technology I design around the idea that fashion should continue to evolve as everything else. We should not be afraid to design outside the basic bodice box. Being born in Mexico City and experiencing a clash of cultures at the age of 9 has also influenced my work. Contrasting memories of Mexico and America eventually lead me to find inspiration that can represent both of my cultures. I aim to avoid seams where and when they are not needed, manipulate darts, add unexpected design lines, use unconventional materials to enhance a design, and experiment with finishes and textile manipulations. The design process is an emotional metamorphosis in which every step guides the next, and the ending is always surprising and rewarding.
